Kunshan, China – September<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From September 19 to 20, 2026, the 2026 \u201cOne City, One Dojo\u201d \u201cSairun Cup\u201d National Judo City League (Changsha) was held. Hosted by the Chinese Judo Association, the event brought together 67 teams and nearly 600 judoka from across China.

Making its first appearance at a national-level tournament under the guidance of Coach Yang, the Duke Kunshan University Judo Varsity Team competed with determination and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the event. After two days of intense competition, the team secured\u00a01 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals<\/strong>,\u00a0earning their place in the National Finals<\/strong>, which will take place in Chongqing on October 5\u20136.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarvarbek Abdumuminov claimed the championship\u00a0title<\/strong>\u00a0for DKU, delivering composed and aggressive performances throughout the bracket.\u00a0Levon Papyan secured the silver medal, while\u00a0Saydmalikkhon Agzamkhodjaev\u00a0and three other teammates each won bronze.<\/strong>\u00a0The results reflected both the athletes\u2019 individual preparation and the growth of DKU\u2019s judo program, which emphasizes technical training, discipline and the judo values of mutual respect and maximum efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflection & Acknowledgement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iliyas<\/strong>: I felt like this competition was held at a very high level, and the general atmosphere and emotions from this competition were amazing. I received a lot of support from the audience, and it was very inspiring to communicate with other participants. This marked the start of a new season for our team, and it was also a valuable experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andranik Pambukhchyan<\/strong>: It was my first competition after recovering from the injury and the first one in a new weight division. I would like to thank Coach Yang and Coach Hu, DKU Athletics, and my teammates whom I have been training with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saydmalikkhon Agzamkhodjaev<\/strong>: This was my first-ever judo competition, so it was both nerve-wracking and exciting. I’d really like to thank our coach for being with us throughout the competition, helping us with everything, and taking the time out of their schedule to go with us. It meant a lot, and I’m also grateful to DKU for organizing this and giving us the chance to attend such an event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
