DKU Sailing Club

Starting this spring DKU Sport Clubs will be stronger for one more member – DKU Sailing Club. Athletics has developed a partnership with Sail Global based in Wujiang on Tai Lake, Suzhou, to support our new club. Sailing Club members will have access to several types of sailing boats, certification courses provided by American Sailing Association, and an opportunity to compete in official regattas.

“In line with our department mission, our goal with the sailing program is to utilize all of the local resources and provide DKU students with the unique opportunities through which they can learn and develop various lifelong skills”, said Zarko Krkeljas, DKU’s Athletic Director.

Initially Sailing Club will be open to 10 full time members and DKU Athletics will fully subside the activity costs including club memberships, transportation, and competition costs. The members will have to obtain the ASA certification course in order to learn the fundamentals of sailing and be able to independently operate the various boats and compete. All students interested in the sailing club should send an inquiry to Athletics Department, sports@dukekunshan.edu.cn.

“We hope that Sailing Club will become one of DKU’s flagship clubs and showcase the depth of our programs and demonstrate our commitment to DKU students’ health and wellness”, emphasized Mr. Krkeljas.

Athletics’ program mission is to provide and sustain one of the most diverse sport and recreation programs, with an equal opportunity for all our students to challenge and explore their intellectual and athletic potential. Sailing Club certainly has the potential to meet and exceed those expectations!
