Physical education (PE) and the National Students Physical Health Standards are two mandatory graduation requirements for students from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan (HMT). The primary aim of our program is to provide students with an opportunity to meet these requirements while exploring various activities to build a healthy and lifelong relationship with exercise.
PE classes are offered in sessions lasting either seven or 14 weeks sessions, earning students 0.5 credits or 1 credit respectively. Students from the mainland and HMT must earn the equivalent of four PE credits to fulfil their graduation requirement in their first and second years.
Considering that PE classes are a key component of promoting health and wellness and demonstrate our commitment to equal opportunity, and given the nature of our integrative academic program, we wish to point out the following:

The National Student Physical Health Standard Test is an annual assessment of students’ physical health and development and is part of the Ministry of Education’s implementation of the National Standards for Physical Exercise in schools. It was established to promote and encourage active participation in physical exercise, and as a national standard it is a mandatory graduation requirement for students from the Chinese mainland and HMT. In the spirit of DKU Athletics’ mission to promote and build a culture of health and wellness in our community, we encourage our international students, faculty, and staff to join in and participate in the test. Additional information on the test, graduation requirements, scoring, and the exemption form, can be found in the NPHST Handbook.
