From October to March, spanning three regions across Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, the inaugural 25-26 Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai University Ultimate Frisbee League concluded on March 8 at Duke Kunshan University.

The league was initiated by Duke Kunshan University and co-hosted with Zhejiang University’s International Campus in Haining. The tournament spanned four legs: the opener at DKU on October 25, 2025; the second at Zhejiang University on December 6; and the final two back at DKU on March 7–8, 2026. This rotating-host model gave teams the opportunity to experience diverse campus cultures while deepening ties between institutions.

This league marked the first cross-regional university ultimate frisbee competition in the Yangtze River Delta Area, bringing together eight top universities for four weekends of competition and connection. Nearly 300 athletes and supporters from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, University of Nottingham Ningbo, Fudan University, Soochow University, Tongji University, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and host Duke Kunshan University participated in 56 round-robin matches.

Every athlete fought with all their might
The league was made possible by the collaboration and joint efforts of participating institutions. Duke Kunshan University and Zhejiang University played key roles as hosts, providing facilities, logistical support, and volunteers. This combined effort across multiple institutions ensured the league ran smoothly and successfully throughout the season.
Data Review
Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) took the championship with 11 wins, 0 draws, and 3 losses, earning 33 points. They scored 135 points and allowed just 57, finishing with a strong performance on both offense and defense.
Zhejiang University followed closely with 10 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses (31 points), matching SJTU’s scoring total while demonstrating solid competitiveness.
University of Nottingham Ningbo claimed third place with 9 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses (30 points), putting in consistently strong performances.
Duke Kunshan University, as one of the hosts, finished fourth with 7 wins, 2 draws, and 5 losses (23 points). They scored 120 points while allowing 77, showcasing growth throughout the season and strong competitive spirit.
The standings were rounded out by Fudan University (5–1–8, 16 points), Soochow University (4–3–7, 15 points), Tongji University (4–0–10, 12 points), and XJTLU (0–2–12, 2 points). Each team contributed their unique style and energy, embodying the spirit of ultimate frisbee.
Profound Impact and Future Event

Everyone high-fived each other in friendship after the game
On the field, the league delivered incredible moments: diving catches, high-energy plays, and matches decided by single points. Off the field, it built bridges through shared meals, deeper conversations, and lasting friendships. The self-officiating nature of ultimate frisbee fostered an atmosphere of respect and mutual understanding among players.

At the awards ceremony, Yuchen, captain of the champion SJTU team, shared his thoughts: “We were all playing in our own circles before. This league brought the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai ultimate communities together. Now we have a real platform to connect.”

As the league concludes its inaugural season, it marks the beginning of a new tradition for the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai ultimate frisbee community. By offering a consistent platform for competition and collaboration among universities in the region, the league has laid a strong foundation for future growth. Though this chapter has closed, the relationships and momentum built by the league are here to stay. The organizers and participants alike look forward to continuing this initiative in the coming years, refining and expanding the competition as a new hallmark event for the region.
