DKU Street Dance Club Wins Big at First National Competition

Huzhou, China

HUZHOU, CHINA – The 2025 China Yangtze River Delta Cheer Dance Competition kicked off on April 18 at Huzhou Gymnasium. Hosted by the Gymnastics Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the China Trampoline and Acrobatic Association, and organized by the Huzhou Sports Bureau, the event brought together 95 teams and nearly 2,000 participants from across the country.

This competition marked the first time the DKU Street Dance Club represented Duke Kunshan University at a national cheer dance event. Under the guidance of PE teacher Zhang Yangjie, a team of 24 students competed in three categories: duo street dance, group pom-pom routine, and group street dance routine, showcasing their passion, strength, and teamwork on the national stage.

Through intense competition, DKU achieved excellent results:

Yihong Lin & Yuening Zhang –3rd Place, Open Youth B Duo Street Dance

DKU Cheer Pom-Pom Team (12 members) – 2nd Place, Open Youth B Group Pom-Pom

DKU Street Dance Advanced Team(13 members) – 3rd Place, Open Youth B Group Street Dance

Group Award, Open Youth Category for overall outstanding performance

The competition showcased our students’ passion and teamwork, marking a significant milestone for DKU in the national street and cheer dance community. We’re excited to see them continue to grow and shine on even bigger stages.
