Zhejiang, China – November 15
At the recently concluded 29th China University Table Tennis Championship (Southeast Division), Duke Kunshan University sent a nine-member team to compete in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles against top universities from the region. This marks the first time the Duke Kunshan University table tennis team has participated in a national competition.

In the competition, the team members faced formidable opponents and endured tough matches, including a 3-4 loss to Suzhou Institute of Technology. They even trailed significantly at the start of the decisive set but managed to stay calm, adjust their rhythm, and fight back point by point. Though they ultimately fell short, their performance showcased exceptional resilience and competitive spirit under pressure.
More inspiringly, in the match against Shanghai University, every player kept a steady mindset and performed beyond expectation despite the strength gap. Through the team’s collective effort and persistence, they achieved a memorable 4:1 victory over last year’s Southeast Division runner-up.

In the end, Duke Kunshan University Table Tennis Team finished 27th. While the ranking may not be eye-catching, it reflects the enduring spirit and never-give-up attitude of generations of players. As one team member said, “The charm of competitive sports is not about defeating others, but about becoming faster, higher, and stronger ourselves.”
Participating in the national championship for the first time provided the team members with invaluable experience and added a splendid chapter to the university’s athletic culture. We look forward to the team continuing to push their limits on future competition stages.
