The DKU Running Club, known in Chinese as 昆山杜克大学跑步社团, is a cornerstone for fostering a supportive running community at Duke Kunshan University. This student-led club provides a welcoming and supportive platform for individuals interested in all things related to running, from casual jogs around campus to structured training sessions for competitive running, hiking, and cross-country events. Every stride taken by the members of the DKURC represents a step towards personal improvement and collective achievement, emphasizing the joy of running and the pursuit of athletic excellence.
The club prides itself on being accessible to all levels of runners — undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty members, and staff members are all welcome. Whether it’s about building endurance, aiming for personal best times, or simply seeking the camaraderie of group runs, the DKU Running Club is the heart of the running scene on campus.
Structure
Running Club
The DKU Running Club invites runners of every stride, from beginners to seasoned marathoners. The club hosts daily practice sessions that are not only about improving one’s pace or distance but also about fostering a sense of belonging and motivation. Practice sessions take place daily (with the exception of Saturdays) from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the DKU Sports Complex (Outdoor Track).
Competition Team
DKURC competition members actively participate in a range of running events such as the DKU ParkRun (5K), Happy Jiangsu 10K, and Wuzhong Seasons Cross-Country (21.1K). These competitions are occasions for members to test their training, experience the thrill of the race, and represent their club and university.
Sporting Associations and Connections
Regular participation in competitions hosted by the Kunshan New District and XTERRA has been a staple of our running program, with plans in motion to develop a university running league for heightened competition.
