Founded on the principles of mindfulness, respect, and martial tradition, DKU Tai Chi is a valued embodiment of physical and spiritual well-being at Duke Kunshan University. As a club, we aim to provide a supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff to immerse themselves in the Chinese culture through Tai Chi. While we embrace the recreational aspect of Tai Chi, focusing on participation and personal growth, we also celebrate the success of our varsity team members who have achieved notable placements in national martial arts tournaments.
Structure
Tai Chi Club
Emphasizing the philosophy of Tai Chi, the club’s recreational side encourages self-discovery and self-improvement through regular sessions held daily in the yoga studio. Our recreational practice serves as a sanctuary for relaxation, physical exercise, and a means to learn about traditional Chinese culture and martial arts. The club organizes morning Tai Chi sessions, hands-on workshops, and the annual martial arts festival.
Varsity Team
For those with an elevated skillset and competitive spirit, the varsity team represents the height of Tai Chi at DKU. The team competes annually in national events, rigorously training to master the sport and to push the boundaries of their physical and mental capabilities. Success in these tournaments is not only a measure of individual skill but also a testament to the team’s dedication to excellence in martial arts.
