Established in 2018, the DKU Basketball Club is a cornerstone sports entity within the university, featuring a women’s varsity team. Its mission is to foster a sense of community through basketball whilst enhancing the members’ skills and leadership, thereby anchoring the university’s athletic community. Student-athletes with talent and commitment have the opportunity to rise to the varsity team which competes in intercollegiate sports, including the Sino-Foreign University League against teams such as NYUSH, UNNC, and XJTLU. With activities ranging from recreational to competitive, the club reaffirms its dedication to the comprehensive development of student-athletes, fostering their success in both sports and academic endeavors.

Varsity Team

The DKU women’s varsity basketball team is an active competitor in the Sino-Foreign University League and engages annually with teams like NYUSH, UNNC, and XJTLU. Practices are held thrice weekly at the main basketball court within the Sports Complex, where the team hones their skills and teamwork under the philosophy of playing hard, playing smart, and playing as a team, with growth being a pivotal focus. The student-athletes are expected to uphold principles akin to those required for success at DKU, such as respect, academic prowess, personal responsibility and ownership, mental and physical resilience, and all-encompassing personal development. Women’s varsity basketball enjoys significant popularity on campus and consistently draws a large number of spectators, contributing immensely to a spirited school atmosphere centered around the sport.
