Kendo

Enter the world of Kendo at DKU, one of the select universities in China that embraces the profound discipline and spirit of this traditional Japanese martial art. Since our inception in 2018, the DKU Kendo Club has been committed to imparting high-caliber Kendo training to enthusiasts and practitioners seeking to master the sport. Our primary objective is to train our club members for excellence, equipping them to undertake the rigorous Kendo Level Examination and to forge a formidable DKU Kendo Team capable of competing in university-level Kendo tournaments.

At the heart of our club is the weekly training regimen, a symbol of our dedication, hosted every weekend in the Sports Complex. These sessions are intricate blends of basic technique drills and spirited sparring, all meticulously performed with the protective gear.

Structure

Kendo Club

The DKU Kendo Club’s training sessions are comprehensive, covering the full spectrum of Kendo from foundational skills to advanced combat. Each week, we strive to refine our techniques and build upon our tenacity and skill. Club members have the opportunities to showcase their skills at numerous campus events.

Competition Team

Annually, our members face the challenge of the Kendo Level Examination. This is a rigorous assessment that not only benchmarks our progress but also certifies our members’ proficiency in this esteemed martial art. The next direction of the club is to compete in intercollegiate competitions.

Sporting Associations and Connections

Our close work with Yushanhui, a dojo in Kunshan licensed by the China Kendo Organizations Union, has enabled us to create avenues for competition and certification in Kendo.
